John Calamia President

John formed Calamia and Associates in 2001, which was his initial introduction to executive search. After five successful years building a recruitment business, he became a Partner in Leadership Group Executive Search. In 2006, John formed Oak Point Consulting to focus on sales and sales management recruitment. Since then, he has completed hundreds of searches helping companies build sales teams throughout North America. During this period, he has built a formative client portfolio of over 100 technology companies.

Prior to entering into the executive search field, John Calamia held a number of distinguished sales leadership positions over a span of 20 years. His notable achievements include:

  • Joined Cullinet Software, the first software company ever to be listed on the NYSE, where he managed the New York area sales operation.
  • Led Sybase’s historical growth in financial services for seven years, resulting in their dominance in the field of financial services.
  • Recruited to be the first sales manager for the startup Vignette, which in 1998 went public in a record-breaking IPO.
  • Ran North American sales in the financial services sector for Tivoli, a major division of IBM.
  • Held the title of Vice President of Sales for Riversoft, which under his sales leadership went public in 2000 on the London Stock Exchange

John continues to maintain close relationships with the leadership of these great companies, and as a result has built an expansive network of literally hundreds of industry contacts.

Johns’ interests include tennis and other sports, classical music, travel, history and wine collecting. He maintains a residence in Westhampton, New York and Naples, Florida, and is married with two children.
